Cook, the ninth-ranked welterweight in Ohio and a top 50 contender among over 700 midwestern fighters in his weight class was named the male Amateur Rising Star of 2023 by Ohio MMA News. We are excited to see him further elevate his status in his upcoming bout against Jacob Yancey at The Future of Fighting 3 ‘The Takeover’ on June 22nd.

Cook is a talented fighter with impressive finishes via strikes and submissions in the first year of his career. Gates made his MMA debut on June 17th, 2023, in a win vs. Jake Lee at EGO Fight Series 1. He also submitted Trevon Goldy in the first round of Hendo’s Fight Night 13 and followed that up with a first-round TKO at Ohio Combat League 26 against Ryan Duffy. 

‘The Sniper’ gets his name due to his excellent stand-up game. Cook’s long reach and striking accuracy perfectly fit his moniker. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Gates fights out of Findlay, Ohio, and is a member of the Demolition Fight Team. Cook holds a 3-1 Amateur MMA record and looks to continue his rise into the pro ranks in 2024.
